Real-time data

Charts on this page are powered by TradingView and update live during market hours. Silver and gold spot prices, ETF charts, and the gold/silver ratio all share the same data layer used by professional traders. For a full-screen version with drawing tools, open the TradingView silver chart.

Why track silver?

Silver behaves as both a precious metal and an industrial commodity. Roughly half of annual demand comes from solar, electronics, and electric vehicles, which is why silver moves differently from gold and warrants its own chart.

Gold/silver ratio

The gold/silver ratio shows how many ounces of silver it takes to buy one ounce of gold. The long-term average sits around 60. Read the full guide to using the ratio.

Gold and silver spot

XAG/USD is one troy ounce of silver in US dollars; XAU/USD is the same for gold. See both quotes side by side, with the ratio and the conversions to grams and kilos, on the XAU/USD and XAG/USD spot price page.

Ways to hold silver

Most investors choose between physical silver, silver ETFs like SLV, and silver miners. Each has different cost, tax, and risk profiles. The silver ETF guide and the mining-stocks primer explain how they differ.

Silver chart FAQ

Is this the same silver chart as TradingView?

Yes. The charts on SilverCharts.org are official TradingView widgets using the same price feed, drawing tools and indicators, embedded so you can use them free without a TradingView account. For the largest version, open the full-screen TradingView silver chart.

What does XAG/USD mean?

XAG/USD is the price of one troy ounce of silver in US dollars. XAG is the ISO code for silver, and XAU is the code for gold. See both side by side on the XAU/USD and XAG/USD spot price page.

Why does the silver chart differ from the price a dealer charges?

The chart shows the wholesale spot price for large bars. Coins and small bars sell at a premium over spot to cover minting, distribution and dealer margin. How silver is priced explains the gap.

When is the silver market open?

Silver spot trades nearly 24 hours a day from about 22:00 UTC Sunday to 21:00 UTC Friday, with a short daily break. The chart holds Friday's closing price over the weekend.
